The El Paso County Treasurer’s Office issues refund checks for property tax overpayments, duplicate payments, approved abatements or petitions, and other payment-related adjustments. Occasionally, these checks are not deposited or claimed by the recipient. Our office makes every good-faith effort to contact the owner of the uncashed funds but is not always able to secure a response.
Below is a list of currently stale-dated checks held by the El Paso County Treasurer’s Office. These funds are legally payable only to the intended recipient or their authorized representative. The Treasurer’s Office does not hold any other excess or surplus funds beyond those resulting from a property tax payment transaction.
Unclaimed funds are ultimately transferred to the State of Colorado and may be searched through the Great Colorado Payback.
